CASA is returning to help children soar
NILES, Mich-- CASA of Southwest Michigan is returning for their 3rd annual Picnic for a Purpose, Helping Children Soar, a blues music-filled brunch to support the Court Appointed Special Advocate Program of Southwest Michigan.
A Picnic for a Purpose is intended to raise funds and awareness of the CASA program and the local children in foster care. This year, the program served over 150 children in Berrien and St. Joseph County, Michigan. Funds will be used to train additional volunteers and advocate for the communities' children.
“Our children need us. During this time of immense change our children need a consistent, caring and reliable adult by their side as they navigate foster care. Our 70 dedicated volunteers do everything they can to make sure children are safe and thriving. They are often called the eyes and ears of the court and a voice for the child,” said Jamie Brooks, CASA Executive Director.
The event is family-friendly and accessible to all. This includes brunch, bar, music by Chicago blues artist, Michael Charles and a raffle for a hot air balloon ride.
The event will be held Sep. 10 on the grounds of the Morris Estate, 1560 Morris Drive, Niles, Michigan. Tickets are $50.00 per person, $25.00 for children. They can be purchased at CASASWMI.org or by sending a check to: CASA, P.O. Box 1146, Benton Harbor, MI 49023.
