SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Students with the Career Academy Charter School network in south bend, partnered with NASA experts Friday to test an advanced noise control fan.
These students gained hands-on experience by helping to create components for this groundbreaking fan, which is designed to make NASA’s air and spacecraft much quieter.
"So, yeah, it's been a lot of fun. It's definitely an opportunity that I'm grateful to have." said student, Garrett Rose. "Not a lot of people get to say that they've done this. So, the past about month and a half has been kind of working with these parts and working in on that printer, kind of optimizing some of the settings."
In collaboration with NASA and Notre Dame turbomachinery laboratory, the students from the portage school of leaders developed 3D printed components for the high-tech fan.
