Brick and Fir Roads roundabout closed until Tuesday for utility work

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The City of South Bend announced AEP-Indiana Michigan Power will close the Brick and Fir Roads roundabout Monday so crews can set new poles and pull ropes and wires across the roundabout.

Officials say this is a continuation of what crews have been doing most of this past summer along Brick Road working west to east.

The work will require multiple bucket trucks and other equipment in the roundabout at one time blocking the flow of traffic.

The closure is expected to be in place for one day, with the anticipated re-opening on Tuesday.

Officials say a detour route will be posted and directs the eastbound Brick Road traffic south on Gumwood Road to S.R. 23, then east back to Brick Road at the S.R. 23 intersection.
