Brian Kelly is one win away from tying Rockne’s record

Notre Dame Coach Brian Kelly is just one win away from tying legendary Knute Rockne’s record for the most wins by a Notre Dame football coach.

When asked what he thinks about the winning record, Kelly lauded his predecessor.

"Rockne and Brian Kelly do not, they're not going to be on the same pedestal, right? We all know what he did, and how he should be revered as the all-time greatest, but I think winning is about consistency too, right? And look, I've been here 12 years," Kelly said. "And I've been fortunate, and so, I'm hoping for a little bit more of that." 

Kelly’s first game and win as Notre Dame head coach was against none other than Purdue back in 2011.
