UPDATE: Wanted suspect arrested, identified in chase with SBPD that ended with flipped car

UPDATE (1:50 p.m. Tuesday): A probable cause affidavit obtained from the St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office revealed Myers had an outstanding a federal warrant from the U.S. Marshals for a weapons offense when he was observed by SBPD officers on Tuesday at a car wash on Lincolnway West.

The PCA states officers had been attempting to locate Myers for months, but authorities say he rarely stayed in the same location, instead traveling to various cities.

Police say Myers was observed on social media with firearms and suspected to be involved with gang members.

An officer attempted to make a traffic stop on the Myers, who was driving a Volkswagen, near the intersection of Diamond Avenue and Vassar Avenue. Myers disregarded emergency lights and siren and fled, leading to a pursuit through the northeast and northwest sides of South Bend.

Police say they attempted to use stop sticks multiple times during the pursuit.

At one point an officer witnessed Myers drive into oncoming traffic on Cleveland Road, before pulling into the Speedway gas station, where he fled into the store. Myers was then detained.

Another officer enroute to the scene was flagged down by a citizen on Angela Boulevard.

The citizen told the officer they saw the dark grey SUV being chased by police and witnessed items being thrown out its window. The witness then pointed to several bags scattered on the road's shoulder.

Police say they discovered a "large quantity of a green leafy substance with the odor of marijuana and a black scale."

Authorities say the substance field tested positive for THC.

At the Speedway, an officer observed multiple commercial marijuana packages in plain view on the driver's side floorboard, front passenger floorboard, and center console of the Volkswagen.

Police collected the suspected marijuana which field tested positive for THC.

The total weight of the suspected marijuana was about 716.9 grams. Myers was then transported to SBPD and advised of his Miranda Rights.

Documents state Myers told police that he purchased marijuana at a dispensary in Michigan, and that he can make a profit selling the marijuana in the street. Myers also stated he knew he had an active warrant and fled from police because he did not want to go back to federal prison.
