BREAKING: Car crashes through front of Einstein Bros. Bagels Wednesday morning

UPDATE: The South Bend Fire Department reports the call came in just after 8:30 a.m. Wednesday of a car crashing through the front of Einstein Bros Bagel Co.

According to an employee, this is the second time this has happened over the last year.

"If you see that plastic right there, that is from the first person that crashed into our building, and that was sometime last year before I started," Einstein employee Seven Jones said.

"And insurance companies have just been going back and forth trying to figure out who's going to pay for it. And I guess while they were doing that, they were working out, lady decided to crash through the front wall again."

No Injuries have been reported, and the cause is under investigation.

"I look over and the wall is just like torn off. And my first thought was like, oh my god ... again. This is the second time this happened," Jones said.

"I wanted to go and make sure that the driver, of course, was okay, and she was fine. Her airbags deployed, which was kind of scary, but I think she was just more shaken up than anything. But I was just kind of in shock for a minute, like, I almost passed out just because, like, it was just so much."

Fire officials say the vehicle hit a supporting wall, so SBFD had to use two struts to temporarily support the wall.

A tow truck then arrived to remove the vehicle.

"There were a couple customers that were like ...okay ... so, are we still getting our food? And that was kind of really weird for a minute," Jones said.

"We're gonna be closed down for a while, but I'm just glad everyone is okay."
