UPDATE: The Indiana DNR has identified the body found in the St. Joseph Riover as 36-year-old Raul Hernandez, of Fort Worth, Texas.

The incident remains under investigation.

Hernandez's exact cause of death is pending toxicology results.

ORIGINAL STORY: SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- A body was found in the St. Joseph River Wednesday afternoon near the 700 block of Riverside Drive in South Bend.

Officials say the call came in around 5:15 p.m. 

South Bend Fire Department says they deployed a rescue boat; however, the water was too shallow to access the body. Firefighters were then able to recover the body and bring him to shore. 

The South Bend Fire Department says the body has been identified as a man of unknown age.

The Indiana DNR has taken over the ongoing investigation.
