Bicyclist dies after crash on SR5 in Shipshewana

SHIPSHEWANA, Ind. -- A bicyclist died at the hospital after she was struck by a minivan early Thursday morning, according to Shipshewana Police.

Police said the bicyclist was stopped on SR 5 to make a left turn onto CR 345 N when a minivan collided with the bicyclist.

The bicycle struck a Westview School Corporation bus that was traveling in the northbound lane. There were no students on the bus at the time.

The bicyclist was transported to Parkview Regional Medical Center by helicopter.

She died of her injuries.

Police have not released the bicyclist's name.
