Scammers typically claim to represent the government, a university or a nonprofit organization.
In some instances, they claim you have won a scholarship or a grant and ask for payment of a one-time processing fee.
The student never receives a scholarship or grant after the fee.
The BBB tells students if they’re skeptical to ask questions, ask about fees and take your time reviewing all information.
