SAINT JOESPH, Mich. -- Events were held all across Michiana to honor our nation’s heroes this Veteran’s Day, including a ceremony at Lake Bluff Park that brings the community together year after year.
The day of remembrance was honored along the lakefront with a minute of silence, wreath laying, and 21-gun salute.
The tradition is put on by the Sons of the American Revolution and the Daughters of the American Revolution, who work to educate the next generation on the American Revolution and their lineage through events like this and scholarship contests.
They shared the reaction they received from veterans who came out for the ceremony.
“Well just thank you. Thank you that we are interested in remembering the people who serve, and memorializing those who didn’t make it back,” said Sylvia Fagal the Director of the local S.A.R chapter.
