Berrien County Treasurer’s Office warns about property seizure scam

BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. -- The Berrien County Treasurer’s Office is warning about a scam targeting property owners.

Some people in the county have received letters in the US Mail threatening that “Property Seizure is Imminent” and then says to call a toll free number.

The letter goes on to say that failure to call the number and pay the owed balance will result in property seizure.

Berrien County Treasurer Bret Witkowski said that anyone getting the letter should ignore it.

He also reminds residents to never provide banking information over the phone to unknown parties.
