BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. -- This month is National Adoption Month and on Monday, Nov. 24 at the Berrien County Trial Court they are celebrating their 10th Annual Adoption Day.
Adoption Day has become a tradition highlighting the importance of adoption and the needs of children in foster care.
The court finalized adoptions for four families throughout the day and Kim and Phil Sayban adopted 8-year-old Damien and officially welcomed him into their family surrounded by loved ones.
Kim Sayban stated, " Just do it. Just do it. The child. Children need to have a stable home, and sometimes that's not happening, and a lot of people are afraid, but there's no need to be afraid. You got to think about the child. And yes, you do have to alter your life, believe me, 30 years of marriage. We've been altering it for 30 years and still going so yes, I say, do it. There's too many children out there that don't have homes."
