BENTON HARBOR, Mich – The Benton Harbor Area Schools School Board approved plans for two major issues in the school district.
The School Board approved the formation of an Advisory Committee with the State of Michigan.
“Tonight it was just to pass to pass a resolution for the concept so the board accepts the concept that’s what tonight was about,” Benton Harbor Area Schools School Board Vice President Joseph Taylor said.
The Advisory Committee will officially begin on October 8thand will submit a report with recommendations of how to improve the district six months later.
The Advisory Committee will include members from the board, the state of Michigan and the Benton Harbor Community.
The district also passed an “Enhanced Deficit Reduction Plan” which seeks to eliminate the districts debt by 2026.
The district is set to announce a meeting where they will announce the members of the Advisory Committee.
