SOUTH BEND, Ind. — Energy is high at the St. Joseph County Fair for opening day—and so are the temperatures! Highs are expected to climb into the 90s today, and once you factor in the humidity, it’ll feel even hotter.
Staying hydrated is crucial—not just today, but throughout the weekend. Tricia Markin, Vice President of the St. Joseph County 4-H Fair, says dozens of food vendors will be offering plenty of sweet treats to help guests cool off. Water is the best way to stay hydrated, and vendors will have both water and ice readily available.
Markin also noted that all buildings on the fairgrounds are air-conditioned, giving fairgoers a chance to step inside and beat the heat.
If you're heading to the fair, be sure to pack sunscreen, a water bottle, and a poncho or umbrella. There’s a chance for pop-up showers and storms later in the day.
