Bark for Life cancer fundraiser May 18 at Rum Village Park

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The American Cancer Society will be hosting its first local Bark for Life event this Saturday at Rum Village Park in South Bend.

"American Cancer Society Bark for Life of Michiana is a canine event to fight cancer," organizers said. "It empowers our canine caregivers, canine cancer fighters and survivors, and our community to take a stand against cancer. We honor and celebrate the lifelong contributions of canine cancer fighters and canine caregivers to human cancer patients."

Pre-Registration is $10 for the first dog and $5 for the second, and registration on the day of the event is $20 for the first dog and $10 for the second.

"One hundred percent of these funds will be used to support local patient programs and breakthrough research to end cancer as we know it; for everyone," organizers said.

Registration opens at 10 a.m. and the Opening Ceremony begins at 11 a.m. The walk through the dog park will follow with displays, vendors and presentations.

Rum Village is located at 2626 South Gertrude Street.
