Art Van Furniture to pay for purchases based on game day snowfall

A furniture store in Michiana is taking the gamble this winter with a sale based on snow fall.

Although Michiana weather is notoriously unpredictable, the Art Van Furniture store in Mishawaka says it will pay for your purchases made this weekend if it snows more than 5 inches on Super Bowl Sunday, February 7th.

Neighboring stores in Chicago and Toledo ran the sale on Super Bowl Sunday last year.

If you remember the huge snow storm that hit, these stores ended up paying for 2.5 million dollars in merchandise.

"We are about due this year, aren't we, to get a little snow and you know this weekend I've read all sorts of forecasts that it's going to be a light winter or February is going to turn cold and wet and you just don't know it's always a gamble I guess. There are times with lake effect snow we get a lot of snow in Elkhart and not much in South Bend or vice versa,” said Franchise Owner of Art Van Mishawaka Tom Eslinger.

The Mishawaka store has been open a little over a year and they ran the sale last year but the snow fall date was on Valentine's Day so they did not have to pay up.
