UPDATE: Argos man sentenced 11 years for Child Molesting

UPDATE: The Marshall County Prosecutor’s Office announced Michael T. Rex, of Argos, was sentenced Wednesday, Nov. 19, after being convicted in a jury trial for Child Molesting, a Level 4 Felony, and Sexual Misconduct with a Minor, a Level 5 Felony.

Rex was sentenced to 8 years in the Department of Correction for Child Molesting, and 3 years in the DOC for Sexual Misconduct with a Minor.

The sentences will be served consecutively for a total of 11 years.

Rex will also be required to register as a sex offender for life.

ORIGINAL STORY: MARSHALL COUNTY, Ind. -- The Marshall County Prosecutor's Office announced 26-year-old Michael T. Rex of Argos was convicted of Child Molesting following a three-day jury trial a week ago.

Rex was originally charged with four counts of Child Molesting, ranging from Level 1 to Level 4 Felonies, and four counts of Sexual Misconduct with a Minor, ranging from Level 4 to Level 5 Felonies.

Rex was convicted on one count of Child Molesting, a Level 4 Felony, and one count of Sexual Misconduct with a Minor, a Level 5 Felony.

Rex was charged in 2024 after a 14-year-old revealed the two were in a sexual relationship spanning about 2 years.

Rex is scheduled to be sentenced on Nov. 18, in Marshall Superior Court 1.

Level 5 Felonies carry a penalty of 1 to 6 years in the Department of Correction, while Level 4 Felonies carry a penalty of 2 to 12 years.
