Winamac man charged in alleged rape of 16-year-old

PULASKI COUNTY, Ind. -- A Winamac man has been arrested and charged with Rape following a month-long criminal investigation.

On Feb. 10, the Pulaski County Sheriff's Office reports it was contacted by the Wabash Police Department about sexual assault allegations against Alex Wash involving a 16-year-old girl.

The victim reported she'd been assaulted by Wash the weekend of Feb. 6-8.

Investigators then gathered evidence, conducted interviews, and executed search warrants for Wash's DNA and cell phone data.

The report states the forensic examination of the device's location data and text messages corroborated portions of the victim’s account and led to more physical evidence.

The investigation's findings were submitted to the Pulaski County Prosecutor’s Office requesting Alex Wash be formally charged with Rape, a Level 3 Felony.

The investigation remains ongoing.
