ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- Richard Alexander was sentenced to 30 years in prison for the death of Catherine Minix in September 2020 during a sentencing hearing Monday. He was additionally sentenced to 20 years for the habitual offender enhancement.
In May 2022, Alexander pleaded guilty to one count of voluntary manslaughter and the murder and invasion of privacy charges were dismissed.
The prosecutor's office said Alexander admitted to killing Minix under "sudden heat."
The two sentences will run consecutive for a total of 50 years.
