Woman dead after SUV crashes into train

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- The St. Joseph County Police department reports just before midnight on Wednesday, police were dispatched to a railroad crossing at Ash Road, off Lincolnway in Osceola, for a crash between a vehicle and train.
Authorities say preliminary evidence suggests an SUV crashed through the lowered crossing gates at a high speed and crashed into a tanker car of the moving train.
The driver, identified as a 36-year-old woman, was killed on impact.
St. Joseph County police and Norfolk Southern police continue to investigate the crash.
