South Bend man charged in Angela Boulevard homicide of 21-year-old Mishawaka man
Tonell Jhakkar Williams ST. JOSEPH COUYNTY, Ind. -- The St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office announced Tuesday that a 36-year-old suspect has been charged in the Jan. 11 homicide of 21-year-old Jacob Kenneth Patchen.
The suspect, identified as Tonell Jhakkar Williams of South Bend, is facing one count of Murder, a Felony, which carries a sentencing range of 45-65 years, officials say.
According to the South Bend Police Department, officers responded to the sounds of gunfire around 7:20 p.m., on Jan. 11, in the 100 block of Angela Boulevard near Michigan Street.
Police say they arrived to find Patchen critically injured in his car.
Patchen was taken to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Authorities say throughout the investigation community tips came in which led them to Williams as a suspect.
The prosecutor's office states a judicial officer found there was probable cause and determined Williams should be held without bond.
Williams remains in custody at the St. Joseph County Jail and is scheduled to be arraigned Jan. 21 at 1 p.m.
