SALEM, New Hamp. – A young girl discovered the gift of reading and her enthusiasm is benefiting kids in Texas in the wake of Hurricane Harvey.
6-year-old, Brooklyn Murray, says she felt bad seeing people lose a lot of their stuff.
So she decided that since reading books brought her so much joy, it might lift the spirits of those who experienced the hurricane.
Murray says, “We thought that it would be a good idea to collect books, because they lost like their houses, their money, their wallets and everything.”
Murray started with her own books, but soon word got out to her school and community.
All together they have collected more than 1,000 books.
If they get more, they plan on sending some to Florida too.
