ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- The St. Joseph County Court released a probable cause affidavit regarding the arrest of a 22-year-old man for three counts of Sexual Misconduct with a Minor.

The document states on Jan. 10, a detective with the South Bend Police Department Special Victims Unit was called to further investigate this case by the Mishawaka Police Department and the Department of Child Services.

MPD reported the victim, who was 14 and 15 at the time of the incidents, told them their sister's boyfriend, identified as Jeremiah Bowerman, had fondled their chest, butt, and genitals.

The victim told police one incident happened at their house, while another happened at their sister's house, both located in St. Joseph County.

Documents state a forensic interview was done with the victim on Jan. 10 at the CASIE Center.

The victim further told police Bowerman had fondled their chest and genitals both under and over her clothes.

The victim told police one of the incidents occurred at their house a couple months before Thanksgiving, but didn't know the specific date.

Police say the victim was 14 during that incident.

Documents state the victim sent Bowerman a message over Instagram after the incident, asking if he recalled what happened and their conversation. Bowerman didn't respond, according to the victim.

On Thanksgiving, the victim said Bowerman was at their house for the holiday.

The victim told police they and Bowerman were chatting with the "Notes Application," and he acknowledged the previous incident and remembered it.

The victim stated Bowerman then asked them to take his phone into the bathroom so they could take nude photos of themself. The victim told police they didn't comply with him.

On Thanksgiving Day, the victim said Bowerman again fondled their chest and butt. The victim was 15 at the time of this incident.

The victim told police that around Christmas they were hanging out with family at their sister and Bowerman's home, stating that they were in a bedroom and Bowerman came in and fondled them again.

Documents state the victim and Bowerman were chatting on the “Notes Application” during this time as well.

The victim said Bowerman was “really touchy” with them in his bedroom and had them touch his genitals over his clothing.

The SBPD SVU detective conducted an interview with Bowerman on Monday, where he admitted to fondling the victim's chest during the Christmas holiday.

Bowerman told the detective he couldn't remember if it was under or over their clothes, and that he was intoxicated at the time, and didn't remember everything.

Documents state Bowerman also admitted to talking with the victim on the “Notes Application” on their phone and admitted to asking them for nude photos.

Bowerman told the detective that he doesn’t remember doing anything else to the victim on prior occasions, saying he was most likely intoxicated.
