20-year-old woman injured after being struck while riding e-bike Sunday

ELKHART, Ind. -- The Elkhart Police Department reports officers responded to the intersection of C.R. 6 and Frederic Drive around 6:56 a.m., Sunday, for a crash involving a vehicle and a bike.

The report states the driver of a Nissan Rogue, identified as a 45-year-old woman, told police she was traveling east on C.R. 6 and was turning into the driveway for Bimbo Bakery when she struck a 20-year-old woman on an e-bicycle.

Authorities say the bicyclist was traveling west in the eastbound shoulder of the roadway.

Medics took the bicyclist to the hospital for evaluation and treatment of her injuries.

The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

Police say the incident remains under investigation.
