15-year-old suspect in murder of Rhema Harris to be tried in adult court

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. - A 15-year-old suspect in the murder of Rhema Harris will be held in adult court, according to the St. Joseph County Prosecutor's Office.

Braelyn Rios, 15, will be tried in the St. Joseph County Superior Court.

Rios has been charged with the following:

  • Count I: Murder
  • Count II: Attempted Murder, a level 1 felony
  • Count III: Criminal Recklessness, a level 5 felony

The sentencing range for murder is 45 to 65 years. The sentencing range for attempted murder is 20 to 40 years. The sentencing range for criminal recklessness is one to six years.

Rios is being held without bail at an Indiana Department of Corrections Juvenile Facility.

Braxton Bird, 18, was also charged for his role in Harris's death. He is also charged with murder, attempted murder, and criminal recklessness.

Harris was killed on June 26 at a home on Milburn Avenue.
