Amanda Pirkowski, Multimedia Journalist
Amanda Pirkowski joined the ABC57 News team in August of 2023 and now works as a multi-media journalist.
Amanda’s love of television reporting started at a young age, as she served as an anchor for her elementary school and then continued working as a reporter, producer, and anchor through middle school, high school, and college. Earning her bachelor’s degree at the University of Notre Dame, Amanda has a double major in Marketing and in Film, Television, and Theater with a concentration in Television and a minor in Theology. She has always enjoyed meeting new people and learning their “why.”
At Notre Dame, Amanda enjoyed both broadcasting and serving as an in-game emcee. She served as an anchor and reporter for Notre Dame Television (NDTV), and she hosted a weekly segment called “Sports with Pirk,” highlighting the games and plays of Notre Dame’s sports teams and even traveling to the 2022 Under Armor All-America Game to interview Notre Dame’s football commits. Amanda also served as the in-game host for Notre Dame’s men’s basketball and women's volleyball games, keeping fans informed and entertained.
In addition to her media involvement, Amanda is a Division 1 athlete, helping the University of Notre Dame’s fencing team to win both the ACC Championship and the NCAA National Championship. At the ACC Fencing Championship in 2022, she also won individual gold and was named MVP of the ACC Championship tournament.
Due to her personal experiences as an athlete, Amanda understands the necessity of perseverance and the power of storytelling, and as an ABC57 reporter, she wants to share individual narratives to inspire and to improve the lives of others. She also strives to highlight the many ways that people give back to their communities. In her reporting, Amanda seeks to understand and relay one’s situational point of view in order to tell their story as it truly exists and to present it in a way that others can understand and feel the person’s experience.
