ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- The Youth Service Bureau of St. Joseph County is holding a Spooktacular drive-thru on Saturday, Oct. 31 to encourage people to celebrate the holiday safely.
“High school age up to age 21 can stop by, and they’ll just come by right by here, and we’ll get the driveway. We’ll have a table outside, so everything’s going to be out in the open, safe. And we’ve got all the bags individually bagged,” the Director of Development and Marketing Youth, Christina McGovern said.
YSB helps homeless and at-risk youths ages 12 to 24 by providing support, safety, and housing. In the spirit of Halloween, the staff at YSB are having a drive-thru Halloween event. Each person who drives by will receive a bag with candy, hand sanitizer, and a mask. They are also holding a virtual costume contest and are asking participants who are taking part in the Spook-tacular drive-thru to tag YSB on social media with their costumes.
“We wanted to do something fun, but also another way to message to young people that YSB is here and we’re available to help 24/7 that the street outreach team is here, we’re available throughout the community," McGovern said.
The Spooktacular drive-thru event starts at 3 p.m. at 1330 Lincolnway East.
