SOUTH BEND, Ind.—School closures, low enrollment numbers, school relocation, and an outgoing superintendent are among the events throughout 2018 that were felt throughout South Bend Community School Corporation.
The Corporation’s Focus 2018 Plan, a plan SBCSC superintendent Dr. Kenneth Spells crafted to restructure the district, resulted in the closing and relocation of schools, changed bell times, re-purposed buildings, and displacement of students.
Dr. Spells announced in December that he will be resigning from his role as superintendent in June, leaving the SBCSC community with questions on the future of the plan.
