Woman injured in crash after avoiding deer

CASS COUNTY, Mich. -- The Cass County Sheriff's Office reports on Wednesday, July 3, around 7:39 p.m., deputies were called to investigate a single vehicle crash near the intersection of Decatur Road and Fosdick Street in Volinia Township.

Authorities' investigation indicates 31-year-old Jenequa Parsons, of Lawrence, was traveling west on Fosdick Street when she swerved to avoid a deer.

The report goes on to state, Parsons then lost control of the vehicle going up an embankment and overturning before coming to rest in a bean field on the north side of the road.

Parsons was able to exit on her own from the vehicle.

Parsons was taken to Borgess Lee Hospital for minor injuries from the crash.

Parsons was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash and alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor.
