Woman charged with wire fraud after allegedly taking over $27K from Child Care Resources

Danielle Taylor

VAN BUREN COUNTY, Mich. -- The Van Buren County Sheriff's Office reports the Portage Police Department in Michigan investigated a fraud complaint after Child Care Resources reported several unauthorized transactions from their bank account in November 2024.

Authorities say the investigation determined over $27,000 had been used to pay bills for 34-year-old Danielle Taylor.

The report states Taylor worked for the Cedar Street location of Paw Paw Schools. Authorities say part of her job was opening mail, which sometimes contained checks from Child Care Resources.

Authorities say Taylor was able to get the checking account and routing numbers to make multiple online transactions for her vehicle insurance and mortgage.

Detectives spoke with Taylor at which point the report states she confirmed she worked at the Cedar Street location of Paw Paw Schools and that her duties included sorting mail, which often required her to open envelopes containing checks.

Authorities say Taylor has previously been convicted in Kalamazoo County for similar offenses.

A warrant was issued for her arrest, and she is currently at the Van Buren County Jail.

Authorities say a significant bond amount is being requested.
