Woman charged with Cruelty to an Animal after throwing puppy during argument
MARSHALL COUNTY, Ind. -- New details have been discovered in the case of 45-year-old Sara R. Walk who was charged with Cruelty to an Animal in mid-December of last year.
On Dec. 14, Marshall County Sheriff's Office deputies were called to the 100 block of Juniper Road for reports of animal abuse. When they arrived, around 11:19 p.m., they found evidence of felony animal cruelty and arrested Walk.
Court documents state that Walk was staying at a friend's home when they began to argue. After police were called to the home around 10 p.m. to deal with the dispute, it was decided that Walk would leave the home and sleep in a camper that was on the property.
Around 11 p.m., Walk allegedly went back into the home to tell the homeowner that the camper did not have heat and her and her dogs should be able to sleep in the house.
"[The homeowner] said no, and after a few minutes Walk had become upset and threw her puppy that she was holding in [their] direction," authorities said. "The puppy, Moto, missed [the homeowner] and came into contact with some equipment in the garage. The puppy whimpered and cried. Pictures were taken of the puppy, which appeared to have some injury to his back- left leg when trying to walk."
Walk was officially charged with misdemeanor Cruelty to an Animal and misdemeanor Disorderly Conduct.
"Walk said she was very upset with the situation and did not know how to deal with [the homeowner's] abuse, which then led to her throwing her puppy," authorities said.
"Walk was asked if she would give permission to [the homeowner] to watch her three dogs for her until she could come get them. Sara said that [they] could take care of her dogs for her for the time being."
