Woman assaulted, left on the side of the road

VAN BUREN COUNTY, Mich. -- A man was arrested after deputies located a woman who had been assaulted, dragged out of a vehicle and left on the side of the road early Thursday  morning, according to the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies were dispatched to a domestic assault in the area of CR 665 and 28th Avenue in Waverly Township Thursday at 12:44 a.m.

When they arrived on scene, deputies located a 41-year-old woman who had been badly beaten.

She told deputies Timothy Parker assaulted her, dragged her out of a vehicle and left her on the side of the road.

She believed he was on his way to his residence in Bangor.

The woman was transported to the hospital.

Deputies located Parker’s vehicle at his residence and attempted to make contact with him. He lived in a camper behind a house in the 800 block of W. Monroe Street.

Deputies could hear someone inside the camper, but they did not respond to knocks or announcements at the door ordering the suspect to exit the residence, reports said.

After obtaining a search warrant, deputies made entry to the camper and took Parker into custody.

Parker had an existing arrest warrant from Van Buren County.

He was taken to the jail on a preliminary charge of aggravated domestic assault and for the outstanding warrant.
