Woman arrested for tampering with evidence in shooting that killed Eau Claire firefighter

BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. -- Another person has been charged in relation to the shooting that killed 36-year-old Chad Medlin in the early hours of Nov. 2 in Eau Claire.

The Berrien County Sheriff's Office says that 43-year-old Elizabeth Harper of Stevensville, was arraigned in Berrien County 5th District Court on felony charges related to the investigation.

Harper was arraigned on one count of Accessory After the Fact and one count of Tampering with Evidence. She is currently lodged at the Berrien County Sheriff’s Office Jail and held on a $25,000 cash surety bond.

At around 12:43 a.m. on Nov. 2 a shooting happened near the intersection of Main and Elm Streets in Eau Claire that killed firefighter and military veteran Medlin and wounded another man. 

Forty-seven-year-old Rigoberto Gomez from Eau Claire, was arrested and lodged at the jail in connection to the shooting.
