SOUTH BEND, Ind. -The bench trial for attempted murder suspect Ian Austin happened Friday morning, with multiple witnesses taking the stand.
Austin is charged with attempted murder, attempted battery with a firearm, and criminal recklessness with firearm enhancement in connection with a shooting in October of 2022.
Today the State of Indiana brought four witnesses to the stand, as well as Austin himself.
Throughout the trial the biggest things that the defense was trying to prove was that Austin had no intent to kill with the shots he fired.
The defense wanted to have all charges dropped, except the criminal recklessness charge.
No ruling was made by the judge today, stated he will decide within 30 days.
