BENTON HARBOR, Mich. -- This afternoon more than 100 volunteers from the Whirlpool Corporation stepped away from their desks and got hard at work for the manufacturing giant’s third annual Day of Impact!
Today, volunteers gathering at Charles Yarbrough Park in Benton Harbor to revitalize a piece of their community!
"It doesn't get better than this. So, for Whirlpool to step in, to help with the improvements, while things are tough, it says a lot about your cooperation and their beliefs," stated Mayor of Benton Harbor, Marcus Muhammad.
The company is partnering with the city and other local groups to make much needed improvements to the park, which they say is a part of the city's rich history.
"So today is about community. This is the third actual Impact Day, where we started with Union Park moved to June Woods Park. And now we're at the Charles Yarbrough Park, named after former mayor Charles Mickey Yarbrough. So, you know, today is very near and dear to my heart, because I know the importance of parks as it relates to community," stated Muhammad.
As a part of today, they are adding bathrooms, a pavilion, and are painting the playground.
