Where Jeremiyah Love stands in the Heisman stands in Heisman odds
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- With only four games left in the regular season, college football playoff talk is heating up and Notre Dame is right in the middle of it. The Irish landed at number ten in the latest playoff rankings, and there’s even more buzz surrounding one of their biggest stars: running back Jeremiyah Love.
Love exploded onto the national stage last season, rushing for nearly 950 yards and 15 touchdowns. He was the only player in the country to score in all 12 games. This year, he’s taken it even further — racking up 894 yards and 11 touchdowns while averaging 6.3 yards per carry.
While most of the Heisman spotlight focuses on quarterbacks like Indiana’s Fernando Mendoza and Alabama’s Ty Simpson, Love has quietly climbed into the conversation.
BetMGM lists him at +4000 odds to win the trophy — the only non-quarterback on that list besides Ohio State receiver Jeremiah Smith.
Sports Illustrated recently called Love “the non-QB with the best odds” to break into this year’s Heisman race. His mix of power and speed makes him one of the most explosive players in college football.
From his 228-yard performance against USC to his highlight-reel hurdles, Love’s playmaking has kept the Irish offense rolling.
Notre Dame tight end Eli Raridon said, “He fully deserves it. He’s the most talented player I’ve ever seen and played with.” Meanwhile, cornerback Leonard Moore added, “it ignites the team when somebody is out there making crazy plays like the 90 yard run he got… I mean that dude makes crazy plays week in and week out, I've never seen anything like it.”
For Love to make a real run at the trophy, he’ll need to keep stacking big games and help keep Notre Dame in the playoff hunt. But if he stays healthy and the Irish keep winning, Jeremiyah Love could be the player who finally breaks the quarterback streak and brings the Heisman back to South Bend.
