BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. -- Recovery efforts are underway after a man was washed away from the South Pier and into Lake Michigan at Silver Beach.
Officials say it happened around 5:30 p.m. on Sunday.
Two men, whose ages are unknown, were on the south pier when a large wave swept one of them into Lake Michigan.
Crews attempted to rescue the man, but were unsuccessful.
Efforts are now being made to recover his body.
