Washington Park Zoo hosts annual Halloween event

MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. -- Boo at the Zoo makes a return this fall.

On Saturday, October 22, the Washington Park Zoo will hold a child-friendly trick-or-treating event featuring booths sponsored by local businesses.

This year's event will have a reduced number of tickets available due to ongoing habitat construction.

Gates will open for the event at 10:30 a.m. with trick or treating ending at 3:30 p.m. and the zoo closing at 4:30 p.m.

Staff at the zoo recommends purchasing tickets in advance since there will be a sales cut-off once the maximum occupancy is reached.

Admission is $8 for adults, $6 for children age 3-11, and free for children 2 and under.

Entrance is free for Washington Park Zoo members with ID and valid zoo pass.

Everyone entering the event will need a ticket.

Due to limited supply, trick or treating is limited to those 14 or under.

Tickets will be on sale starting September 5.

They can be purchased at the zoo office or online at Eventbrite.

The event will be held rain or shine.
