Washington High School selected to host 'Get Your Teach On' conference for educators

Get Your Teach On

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- South Bend Community School Corporation announced Washington High School has been chosen to host the "Get Your Teach On" (GYTO) conference for the second year in a row, from June 27 to 28.

South Bend Schools officials say they are proud to be one of only four sites statewide to host the transformative summer event.

The GYTO conference is designed to ignite educators' passion for teaching and learning, expand current Indiana Department of Education (IDOE) initiatives to support and elevate the educator profession, and foster an environment where students are excited to attend and build meaningful relationships.

“This is an incredible opportunity for our educators to collaborate, learn, and grow,” said Dr. Todd Cummings, Superintendent of South Bend Community School Corporation. “We are honored to host this regional conference and look forward to seeing the innovative ideas and renewed enthusiasm it will bring to our classrooms.”

Teachers from across the region will attend the GYTO conference, where they'll be provided with an opportunity for professional development and collaboration.

In 2023, Madison STEAM Academy was one of only 12 schools in Indiana, out of over 100 applicants, to be selected for professional development from GYTO.

Hope and Wade King founded GYTO in 2016 to specialize in professional development and encourage educators and administrators through conferences.

GYTO hosts both national and regional conferences, virtual conferences, school and district trainings, and additional events for a variety of educators and school administrators yearly.

“Even during the summer months, our focus remains on developing exceptional learning opportunities for our students,” added Dr. Cummings. “This conference is a fantastic opportunity to align passion and innovation with our goal of inspiring successful, life-long learners.”
