Warrant check leads to 51-year-old man arrested on drug charges
STARKE COUNTY, Ind. -- The Starke County Sheriff's Office reports deputies along with officers from the Knox Police Department went to a residence on South East Street in Knox for a warrant check around 8:17 p.m. on Dec. 28.
The report states that approaching officers could smell the distinct odor of marijuana coming from the residence.
Authorities say officers were greeted by a member of the household and given entry to the home.
While speaking with subjects at the residence officers say they noticed suspected marijuana and other paraphernalia in plain view.
The report states a search warrant was then obtained for the home.
Officers found a suspected methamphetamine pipe, marijuana, and other paraphernalia, according to the report.
After authorities interviewed a household member, 51-year-old George Howard of Knox was taken into custody.
Howard was taken to the Starke County Justice Center and booked with preliminary charges of Possession of Methamphetamine, a Level 6 Felony, Possession of Marijuana, a Class B Misdemeanor, and Possession of Paraphernalia, a Class C Misdemeanor.
