Wanted felon located and arrested in possession of firearm
La Porte County Sherriff\'s Office LA PORTE, Ind. -- La Porte County Sherriff's Office reports they responded to an area of the 6800 north block of SR 39 regarding a civil matter. The property owner advised the Deputies that 44-year-old, Charles J. Wilson, expressed his intentions of staying on the property even though he was no longer authorized to do so. A computer check determined that Wilson was a wanted person by authorities in Port Counter for felony resisting law enforcement (RLE).
Deputies arrived at the property and gathered around a RV known to be where Wilson was residing. Deputies made contact with an occupant of the RV who confirmed that Wilson was still located inside. All attempts to establish communication with Wilson failed.
Several additional Deputies arrived at the property to assist, and a chemical agent was introduced to the RV by a tactical deputy. Shortly after, Wilson emerged from the RV and was taken into custody.
Wilson was then transport to the La Porte County Jail.
A search warrant for the RV was obtained and upon execution, a 9mm semi-automatic pistol was recovered.
Wilson was arrested for the following offenses:
- Possession of a Firearm by Violent Felon, L4 Felony
- Resisting Law Enforcement, Class A Misdemeanor
- Hold - Porter County Warrant
Wilson remains housed in the La Port County Jail and is being held without bond.
