Volunteers needed for United Way's 12th annual Rake a Difference

United Way of Southwest Michigan is looking for volunteers to participate in its 12th annual Rake A Difference event, which helps seniors in the area clean up their yards before winter.

The event takes place on November 10.

Volunteers will spend the day working as teams to help seniors ages 60 and old rake and bag leaves and clean out their gutters.

The service is free of charge for seniors who can't physically do yard work or can't afford to pay for the services.

Seniors are helped on a first-come, first-served basis depending on how many volunteers are available.

The deadline to sign up as a volunteer is October 14.

Seniors can call 269-932-3554 to request services.

The deadline for seniors to call is September 30 or until registration is full.

“There is great need for this volunteer service in our communities," said Debbie Ramirez, Volunteer Engagement Director at United Way of Southwest Michigan. "Raking leaves and cleaning gutters can be difficult, if not impossible, for many seniors, but with your help, seniors can be ready for winter.”
