GOSHEN, Ind. -- A scary scene unfolded in Goshen Tuesday afternoon as a two-vehicle crash led to a downed powerline, a truck on fire, and woman stuck in her vehicle at the intersection of Ferndale Road and County Home Road.

Authorities say the call came in around 2:55 p.m. of an accident at the intersection near the Meijer and IHop in Goshen where the initial investigation indicates that 83-year-old Kathleen Royer allegedly pulled the Nissan Rogue she was driving out in front of a Toyota Tundra driven by a 60-year-old Goshen man carrying a 22-year-old passenger.

Royer was stopped at the stop sign heading west on County Home Road and claimed to have not seen any vehicles coming when she pulled out. The driver of the Tundra was heading south on Ferndale Road and was unable to stop in time.

"The impact of the crash and airbags caused [the driver of the Tundra] to swerve off road and hit a utility pole," the crash report indicates. "The [Rogue] had heavy front-end damage and was spun around 180 degrees from the path it had been on.

The Tundra also had heavy front end damage and caught fire as it was trapped against a utility pole, which was also on fire.

"There were two utility poles that were snapped in half and live wires on the ground," authorities said.

A video showing the immediate aftermath of the crash shows Royer seemingly unable to get out of her vehicle before bystanders step in to help her away from the crash scene and the burning utility poles and truck.

Both drivers and the passenger of the Tundra were taken to Elkhart General Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Royer companied of hip and head pain, while the driver of the Tundra is said to have lost consciousness and complained of pain in his face and right hand.

The Tundra's passenger complained of right foot pain.
