Verizon network issues impacting customers in Michiana

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Cell phone network Verizon has confirmed that an outage Monday morning is impacting users across the country, including many here in Michiana.

“We are aware of an issue impacting service for some customers,” a Verizon spokesperson told CNN. “Our engineers are engaged, and we are working quickly to identify and solve the issue.”

The outage appeared to start around 11 a.m., with roughly 100,000 reports from customers on DownDetector, a site that tracks complaints about service outages.

While some customers have no service at all, some are reporting that their phones are stuck in "SOS" or "Emergency" mode

According to its website, the company has over 114 million subscribers.
