Vehicle crashes into home, catches fire

COLON, Mich. – A vehicle crashed into a home and caught fire early Monday morning, according to Colon Community Fire and Rescue.

At 12:38 a.m., dispatch received a call from On-Star about a vehicle crash with a person trapped and the vehicle possibly on fire.

A second call from a bystander reported the vehicle crashed into a home and detached garage and caught fire. The fire spread from the vehicle to the house and garage.

When firefighters arrived, the driver was out of the vehicle.

The home was unoccupied at the time of the fire. It was a total loss.

St Joseph County Central Dispatch, Village of Burr Oak Fire Department, Leonidas Fire Department, Bronson Fire Department, Tri-Township Fire Department, Colon Police Department, Bower's Service LLC and St. Joseph County Sheriff's Department assisted.
