Undersheriff: No personal information compromised during recent hacking

BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. -- The Berrien County Sheriff's Department said no personal information was compromised during a recent hacking.

On Sunday, the hacker group named "Anonymous IRC" posted profanity and political material on the site.

They even had a name for the breach: "Shoot the Sheriff Sunday" or SSS.

But the Undersheriff assured us on Thursday that the hackers did not get any secure information.

"The most they got were some sign on passwords from employees that were able to access the site. Those passwords were for only that use. Those have been changed and deleted," said Undersheriff Chuck Heit.

The Sheriff's Department said private information is stored on a separate internal website.

Security has since been upgraded.
