The Portage School of Leaders SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- On Thursday, the Portage School of Leaders, part of the Career Academy Network of Public Schools (CANOPS), announced a partnership with Purdue Polytechnic High School South Bend (PPHS) after the PPHS Board of Directors decided to transition its South Bend campus.
“We will continue to sharpen our focus, strengthen the Purdue Polytechnic High School brand, and position the organization to build upon the knowledge gained through South Bend’s pilot experience – advancing our mission and realizing our long-term vision for sustainable, high-quality growth,” said Keeanna Warren, Ph.D., CEO of Purdue Polytechnic High School.
Within the partnership, CANOPS will lead a process to support PPHS students into the Fall 2026 semester as they elect to transition to The Portage School of Leaders or another CANOPS school.
Transition planning will focus on maintaining academic continuity, credit alignment, grade placement, and clear, consistent communication with families.
Families of PPHS students will receive direct communication from school leadership with more details.
Officials say throughout its five years of operation, the South Bend PPHS campus has struggled to meet financial and enrollment goals.
PPHS officials say the decision was difficult but will enhance the PPHS network’s overall fiscal health and align spending with demonstrated demand, while positioning remaining schools in Indianapolis for long-term operational excellence and stability.
