Two people hurt in two vehicle crash in Cass County

CASS COUNTY, Mich. – Two people were hurt in a crash in Jefferson Township Tuesday afternoon, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office reported.

At 12:10 p.m., deputies were called to the scene of a crash at the intersection of M 62 Hwy and Brownsville St.

A car, driven by a 26-year-old Mishawaka woman, had entered the intersection going west from the stop sign.

The driver failed to yield right of way to a southbound pick-up driven by a 36-year-old Cassopolis man, reports said.

The car spun and came to rest in a yard and the pick-up rolled over multiple times before coming to rest in a yard.

The trailer being pulled by the pick-up truck detached from the truck and traveled about 150 yards south of the crash scene.

The driver of the car was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. The driver of the pick-up sustained minor injuries but refused medical treatment.

Both drivers were wearing seatbelts.

Alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
