SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Two South Bend Police officers have been promoted and they're both ready to make a difference in their new positions.
Newly appointed lieutenants Neil Graber and Brad Rohrscheib were joined by the families today to mark the momentous occasion.
Graber, as a new lieutenant in the Strategic Forces Unit, is determined to face the growing drug issues in the city.
"There's a lot of drugs in the community right now," said Lt. Graber. "Obviously, the guns and the violence in the drugs kind of go hand in hand. So, it gives us different tools to do investigations, and try to make the streets safer for people."
Lt. Rohrscheib, as the new lieutenant of traffic and special events, aims to focus on creating a safe organized police presence at people gatherings or events.
"I help organize from a police standpoint like Notre Dame football traffic, sunburst, walks like 5k walks and runs for charity parades and then help with our strategic Intel office and our community resource officers as well," he said.
Both officers hope to help bridge gaps between the community and law enforcement as well as build relationships with local businesses as well.
