Two killed after semi crashes into SUV on SR 15

KOSCIUSKO COUNTY, Ind. -- A driver and her passenger were killed in a collision with a semi on SR 15 Tuesday evening, according to the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Office.

Multiple agencies were called to SR 15 at CR 950 S around 5:15 p.m. for the crash.

The preliminary investigation revealed a 2002 Chevy Suburban, driven by Shelby Hogle, 18, was struck by a southbound semi towing an enclosed trailer, according to deputies.

After the semi struck the passenger side of the Suburban, both vehicles went off the side of the road and the Suburban was pinned underneath the semi, reports said.

Hogle and her front seat passenger, 21-year-old Zachery Stavedahl, were pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver of the semi was taken to a Fort Wayne hospital by helicopter for treatment of a potential abdominal/pelvic injury.

The crash remains under investigation.
